Praying For Teachers

I haven't posted in a while. Trying to finish school while trying to keep up a blog is not the easiest thing to do....nevertheless, here I am again! All of my previous blog posts have been a criticism of the education system, or how the education system leaves children with special needs behind, and while all of that is still true, I want to talk about something that is a topic most people don't think about doing. PRAYING FOR TEACHERS Some people would say "why pray for them? They signed up for it" or they might say "I need to be praying for myself right now." I know that's probably what you're thinking, because we all do it. It's human nature, we worry and fret over our own problems without the consideration of what other people are going through. I'm just as guilty of it as you are, but we can't be that way anymore. Look at our society, we live in a world full of people and we're all saying "what can you do for me?...

Making a Difference

Hello again! Thank you all for continuing to read this poorly written blog every week, I promise it will only get better from here ;)  Following last week's angry rant about how deplorable the education system is, I felt that this week's post needed a lighter note. As a child, I always wanted to "play school." Being a teacher was something I thought about doing before I even realized it. I've always felt called to teaching, even when I went through a spell where I really didn't care for children. Of course, as I grew up and decided what kind of teacher I was going to be, I soon realized that there are many pros, but also many cons to teaching.  Probably the biggest con of all is the amount of pay. I spend 4 long years, and lots of money to get a degree, and spend day after day trying and attempting to teach "America's Future" hoping that just one of them gets it, all to end up being one of the lowest paid people in the U.S. Now, as an adul...

The Deplorably Uneducated Educators

WARNING: VERY OPINIONATED COMMENTS TO COME. NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART!! Hello readers!!! My post last week got 8 views!!! That is so awesome!! Thank you to all who have joined in on this journey with me, and thank you to all who continue to read. It is for you, the learners, that I continue to write this blog, so that maybe you will see the light in education just as I do. :) This one is written out of pure and utter disgust for the United States Education System. I have always known that the education system was screwed up, and I knew that Special Education took a back seat to funding and all sorts of resources, but I guess I've never really known how deplorable the conditions were for our students, and how at risk their education is...until tonight. The following paragraph(s) are from yet, another assignment that has opened my eyes to why public school is NOT where I want to teach... "According to thearc.org, IDEA requires that children be educated to the maximum limi...

America's Future: the kids of today

Ok, so this one isn't as formal as the first. Mostly because the first one was a copy of an essay that I had to do, but after all, this IS a blog, not some published paper. Before I begin, I want to start by saying that all of the opinions or views in my posts are strictly mine, and I take full responsibility for all of them.  I titled this one  America's Future: the kids of today because I want to highlight on some of the differences between the generation that just graduated, and the generation that is currently in school; but also because I want to hone in on some of the problematic, or I guess you could say different ways that children are being taught today.  Technology runs our life in today's world, and more importantly, it runs our kids lives. Everywhere you look, there are kids with phones, tablets, and all other kinds of technology. I know kids who have had an Ipad longer than I have, I know kids who have nicer phones than their parents do! Technology r...
This is Me: The road to Teaching This is me, this is my blog. I chose to write about my journey in education because it has been a life changing experience, both positive and negative. This is just my story, a little about me to get us started.... I want to teach because I want to help children control their disabilities and behavioral issues so that they can succeed in life and lead a normal life. I don't share this with many people, but I have a learning disability,ADD, and I have also been diagnosed with mild  Asperger's  syndrome. My SLD is identified as being in math, and the specifics of it state that I have a disability known as  Dyscalculia , which means that I have problems processing and understanding math equations, counting, grouping, etc. Math has always been a problem for me, I've never liked math. When I was a child, I had problems making friends as well, and problems with social skills. As I got older, the social skills improved, a...
